Guild Wars tech question
Hello, this is my first post, and I am pretty excited about Guild Wars. I have read the system specs, and i think my computer will run GW fine, but I wan't to make sure, because I havn't played the game yet.
My system specs are:
Pentium 4 processer, 1.70 GHz
256 mb of RAM
Nvidia GeForce 2 MX
I do have a stick of 256 mb of ram that I havn't installed, so please tell me if I should install it, and also, if you need any more info about my computer to tell me if my computer will run GW smoothly, then please post and let me know hwat you need to know.
Thanks, and hopefully I will see you all on 4-28-05 !
Im not sure if I have an integrated graphics card, nor what one is. Under specs I was able to see DAC Type:Integrated RAMDAC, does that mean I have a integrated graphics card? thanks

If youv got that extra RAM you should definantly put that in, that should really help, and I think you may need to upgrade your graphics card, try getting the GW client up and checking the quality of the login screen.

baiscly yes The new card should come with a net set of drivers for it but it doesn't hurt to check the makers website too. On some of the Really High end cards you may want to think about an extra fan or something to cool it.

sorry to keep asking questions, but updating graphics cards might end up being expensive, do you think I could get away with playing the game on low setting with this graphics card without having many problems?

You should be fine at lower settings. It's not going to be the most beautiful thing in the world, but it should certainly be playable.

see how the client runs first. If you are happy with the looks and the Lag OK then fine. Remember you do not have to buy the most expensive card out there. mine was only $99 and that was a about a year and a half ago. Also here is a Tech question does your motherboard support AGP cards. If so then you def want to get one because they are sooo much faster and better. But all that is up to you.

you could play the game with your current card and POSSIBLY have to lower the settings, but if you do you may end up missing out on some of the amazing GW art etc. Plus you can get a fairly good graphics card for relativly cheap, I live in the UK and I can get quite new cards for less than £50. But remember that until you've actualy tried the game, (like I said the client login page is a good place to get an idea), you can't be certain what the game will be like.

yeah, but how can I try the game without purchasing it. Once i purchase it, open it up, install it, and then play it to see fi it will work, then I won't be able to return it if it doesn't work.

go to www.Guildwars.com and download the client
you will not be able to play but you can see how it would look. For dial up I should take about 45min I think

also an 8 mb rage card
edit
your 9000 is the recommended as opposed to the minimum

ok, a message came up that said I have an unsupported video card!?
I checkied the list and sure enough, nvidia geforce 2 is unsupported
http://www.guildwars.com/support/uns...-hardware.html
referr to above link.
so i click continue anyways, and it opened up and it looks great, no lag, and runs fine.
what does unsupported graphics card mean, and will i run into any problems because of that?
because to me it looked fine
